Thanks Seraph for pointing out posted threads in Tournament Discussion.

This Tournament has interesting prizes and also follows the GWC set-up.

Information Thread:

“Greetings, Knights!

March is the month North American Grand Chase entered official service and we are celebrating our Second Anniversary with a bang! We’ve been looking for different ways to make this month special for everyone, and figured what better way than to host a tournament with unprecedented levels of prize awesomeitude. We are proud to announce that we have partnered with PlaySpan to bring you this month’s tournament! They’ve been gracious enough to provide us with prizes you guys will really like in addition to a huge stack of UltimatePoints codes to give out!

This tournament will not use forum registration, instead we are opening it to more players than ever before with a Survival format. Since we are hosting an open tournament, it’s only fitting that we call our thirteenth competition the “Slam Party”!

We received tremendous feedback from our last tournament which was carried out using a similar setup to the Grand Chase World Tournament (GWC). Therefore, we will be bringing back some of the GWC settings currently on our tournament server, but expanding the field of available jobs to really bring out the explosive play!

Who: 364 unique players unique players with no restrictions on character, job, or level and no registration. You are welcome to change your character in the tournament room up to the start time, but be careful, because so can your opponents. While you are free to change your gear at will, please bear in mind that stats will be normalized according to GWC settings.

What: Single-elimination Survival tournament with varying room sizes

When: The tournament will be held entirely on Thursday, March 18th, beginning at 4 PM PDT. While the actual tournament length will depend on individual play speed, we anticipate going into the final round by 8 PM PDT.

Where: Gardosen Server, Free Class PvP, in rooms specifically created and supervised by the GM staff. Once the room is created, it’ll be open on a first-come, first-served basis. A total of 8 Game Masters will be creating the rooms for the tournament so it’s important to be ready to join as soon as the rooms are created!

IMPORTANT NOTE: ANY PLAYER FOUND TO HAVE ENTERED A QUALIFYING ROOM TWICE WILL BE PERMANENTLY BANNED!

Why: To survive the craze and emerge victorious!

All Game Stats:
Category: Survival
Mode: Fight
Map: See Below
Room Size: Variable
Items: Off

Maps will be chosen at random out of the following list:

Elven Forest
Orc Temple
Marsh of Oblivion

Just like our “You think you can brawl” tournament, stats will be equalized on the server.

There will be no Skill Trees, Pets, or Cash Item Skills allowed in the tournament, this includes Kaze’aze’s Healing Ball. Ryan’s GP transformations are okay, cash re-colors are not.

To keep the competition moving, Fast Match will be activated 3 minutes into any battle

To take it a step further, Sudden Death will be activated 5 minutes into any battle, reducing all characters to FATAL. That’ll speed things up!

Format:
Interested competitors will gather on the Gardosen Server in the Free Class channel beginning at 4 PM PDT. At this time, 8 Game Masters will each create one tournament room open to 6 competitors. If you have played in another qualifying match, DO NOT ENTER ANOTHER! It’s important to allow other players a chance to compete, so we will not allow any second chances under any circumstances. We will consider a player to have participated in a qualifying match if that player has taken any action during a qualifying match. This means that if you disconnect before the match has started, you may attempt to enter another room, but not if you have loaded successfully.

The top 3 competitors from each qualifying room (as defined in the Win Conditions section below) will be invited to participate in the 2nd Round. These players will need to remain active on the server with Whispers and Invites on so that they may be called by the Game Masters when it is their turn to participate in Round 2. Players will be given TWO MINUTES from the time of first contact to respond to a GM’s call to appear, after which point the player may be disqualified from the tournament.

The 2nd Round will consist of rooms of 6 filled by qualifiers from the previous round. The top 2 competitors from each room in the 2nd Round will be invited to participate in the 3rd Round. Additionally, the top 1 competitor from each room in the 2nd Round will receive a $10 PlaySpan UltimatePoints Code. As before, these players must remain active on the server and ready to respond to a GM’s call to appear.

The 3rd Round will consist of rooms of 4 filled by qualifiers from the previous round. Only the best competitor in each room in the 3rd Round will advance to the Semi Final Round. These players will also receive 1 $10 PlaySpan UltimatePoints Code. In the Semi-Final Round, the room size will again be 4, filled by the winners of the 3rd round. The top competitors in each room of the Semi Finals will advance to the Final Round, which will consist of a single match of four players.

Win Conditions:
Competitors in each match will be ranked in descending order by the following criteria:
1st: Least Deaths
2nd: Most Kills
3rd: Latest Elimination

While the game’s internal scoreboard also follows the first two rules, the Game Masters will have the final determination of rank in the case of a tie or error on the scoreboard. Based on these rules, the last player standing will always be first place, but it is possible for his final opponent to not even place if that player scored fewer kills than the others during the match.

Prizes:
Once again, we would like to thank PlaySpan for sponsoring these awesome prizes!

2nd Round: 1st Place finishers in each room (32 Players Total) will receive:
1x $10 PlaySpan UltimatePoints Code

3rd Round: 1st Place finishers in each room (16 players total, inclusive of first 32) will receive:

& Microsoft Side Winder X4 Gaming Keyboard

2nd Place Finishers will receive:

Survivals are evil, but I’ll probably participate anyway.

Thanks for reading,

Cow

Yeah, I never really got into tournaments. PvP has been nonsense ever since people have been hacking, lagging, or any other form of the such. I would enter if I could guarantee no lag would be involved. That’s a big one for me. And as for you entering you really would probably win Cow. I remember facing you right after game came out of beta and you wrecked me 3 matches in a row so bad…. hahaha.

Id try it..but with tournaments, the winners are already decided. It will always be the top PVPers that win.

Hmm, my time zone is GMT… and it’s a college day, but I think I’ll see if I can give it a go.

Especially as in Survival, I tend to be the first one out… with 4/5 kills at the end. I use Savior, so am not effected by No ST. I usually have a stat disadvantage, due to no cash. Cash skills are painful. All of this combined actually means I could have a serious chance at doing well in this.

I was bored and I noticed that 364 is not even divisible by 6. I did the math for the number of competitors and I got 384 instead of 364.

    1st round: 384 x 3/6 = 192
    2nd round: 192 x 2/6 = 64
    3rd round: 64 x 1/4 = 16
    Semi-final: 16 x 1/4 = 4
    Final: 4 x 1/4 = 1

I am sometimes envious of these half-crazed events you guys in NA get ._. TWGC just gets explosions and a lot of apocalyptical stuff ._.

Sigggh..zzz Oh yes… I strangely translated the entire patch list for TWGC again == It’s getting awfully fun… don’t ask me why… Hopefully, they have screenies by tomorrow ._.

I would love to participate in the tournament, but I am really bad at PvP, sigh, I wish I could just watch. But maybe I will give it a go. I know I won’t win, but ya know, it never hurts to try!
